In what was a must win game for the Utah Jazz against the Minnesota Timberwolves, Jae Crowder stepped up in ways that may not have been expected.

With the game essentially over, Jeff Teague took a cheap shot on Ricky Rubio and Jae Crowder came from out of nowhere to confront him about about it. After review, Teague was ejected and then got into it with Tom Thibodeau. That type of toughness is incredible and now the whole team knows that Jae Crowder is one of the family.

It may all seem like a small thing, but this is the type of event that can forge a strong bond with a team and can help them get through adversity in the future. The Jazz are lucky to have a teammate like Jae Crowder who they know will be there for them.

By the way, the Jazz won in what was easily their best performance since All-Star break. They still sit in the 10th spot in the Western Conference but this inches them one step closer.

On a sleepy night in Memphis, the Utah Jazz grinded out an ugly victory over the Grizzlies.

The Jazz defense continued to perform at an elite level holding the Grizzlies to 78 points and 37% from the field. That’s an incredible defensive effort from the Jazz who seem to be gaining steam with each victory.

Jae Crowder was fantastic hitting a career high 6 threes while putting up 22 points. That trade is looking better and better for the Jazz who might have real weapon at the stretch four position to play off of Rudy Gobert and Derrick Favors.

After the first quarter the Utah Jazz were up 42 to 21 against the Detroit Pistons and they never let off the gas.

Jae Crowder was a monster in the first half and ended the game with 14 points going 3/6 from 3. His spacing and defense has been special for the Jazz and, combined with Rudy Gobert turning into Godzilla, is destroying opponents.

Joe Ingles continues to be an elite small forward. He does everything and does it well. Tonight his line was 17/7/7. Incredible. Combine that with only one turnover and and you have a special player who will help the Jazz get wins in the playoffs.

Donovan Mitchell only needed 10 shots to score 13 points while also grabbing 9 rebounds and dishing 3 assists continues his stellar play. He deserves that rookie of the year award at the end of the season whether he wins it outright or as a co-winner.

Finally, Ricky Rubio put in great minutes. His 4 points and 9 assists felt monstrous as he came away with a +30 in plus minus.

As reported by Adrian Wojnarowski, the Utah Jazz traded Rodney Hood to the Cleveland Cavaliers for Jae Crowder. It was a very active trade deadline for the Cavaliers who also traded Isaiah Thomas for pieces from the Lakers including Larry Nance Jr and Jordan Clarkson.

Let’s talk about the trade!

Donovan Mitchell, Rudy Gobert, Jae Crowder and Derrick Favors talk about their Game 4 win to avoid a sweep by the Houston Rockets. Mitchell says his goal in the 4th quarter was to “continue to attack” the Rockets as he scored 19 points in the quarter. Mitchell is confident the Jazz can play even better in Game 5 after building momentum. Gobert says the Jazz’s physicality made the biggest difference to the team’s defense. Favors calls the Game 4 win “a great team effort.” Crowder says he is ready for any role that will help the team succeed and by starting he wants to bring energy. Mitchell finishes by giving high praise to Ricky Rubio and his role in the win.
